As empresas que compram, vendem e processam commodities<\/em> agr\u00edcolas desempenham um papel \u00fanico na conex\u00e3o entre fornecedores e consumidores de soja em todo o mundo. Por funcionar como uma fibra \u00f3ptica, conectando consumidores, produtores e mercados, essas empresas t\u00eam uma oportunidade \u00fanica de ajudar a impulsionar o progresso para eliminar o desmatamento e a convers\u00e3o de terra impulsionados pelo cultivo de soja. Devido \u00e0 complexidade das cadeias de abastecimento de soja, nenhuma empresa consegue enfrentar a quest\u00e3o do desmatamento e da convers\u00e3o de terra sozinha.<\/strong> A colabora\u00e7\u00e3o entre elas ajuda a evoluir todo o setor, de maneira conjunta, a partir do estabelecemento e aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de padr\u00f5es e solu\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n

Em 2018, o Conselho Empresarial Mundial para o Desenvolvimento Sustent\u00e1vel (WBCSD, World Business Council for Sustainable Development) criou o SCF para permitir essa colabora\u00e7\u00e3o, tornando-se, assim, o \u00fanico f\u00f3rum em que as empresas associadas se comprometeram a buscar solu\u00e7\u00f5es coletivas para desafios comuns de sustentabilidade, conectando objetivos globais a realidades locais. Todos os seis membros do SCF – ADM, Bunge, Cargill, COFCO International, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), e Viterra<\/strong> – se comprometeram a eliminar o desmatamento e a convers\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o nativa (NVC, native vegetation conversion) de suas cadeias de abastecimento de soja, equilibrando as prioridades econ\u00f4micas, sociais e ambientais.<\/p>\n

As empresas que t\u00eam contato direto com consumidores desejam comprar soja livre de desmatamento e de NVC. Ao mesmo tempo, produtores s\u00e3o incentivados a lidar com a quest\u00e3o do desmatamento al\u00e9m de suas obriga\u00e7\u00f5es legais, o que requer os incentivos adequados para proteger a sua subsist\u00eancia. As empresas-membro do SCF trabalham para facilitar esse di\u00e1logo com parceiros de todos os n\u00edveis das cadeias de abastecimento para identificar solu\u00e7\u00f5es coletivas que agreguem valor tanto para os produtores quanto para os consumidores.<\/p>\n

O SCF divulga o seu progresso publicamente duas vezes ao ano, em junho e em dezembro.<\/p>\n

Organizado pelo WBCSD<\/a>, o SCF contribui com o programa de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e agricultura (Food & Agriculture pathway) promovendo a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de soja positiva para a natureza, o clima e os agricultores, e, assim, colabora com a transforma\u00e7\u00e3o dos sistema alimentares e, por fim, com a estrat\u00e9gia da Vis\u00e3o 2050 do WBCSD.<\/p>\n

O Secretariado do SCF facilita o di\u00e1logo, a consolida\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos e informa\u00e7\u00f5es, e apoia o di\u00e1logo aberto com os atores da cadeia de valor da soja e com a comunidade em geral. As li\u00e7\u00f5es aprendidas com o Cerrado ser\u00e3o essenciais para expandir o alcance dos esfor\u00e7os a outros cultivos e biomas em todo o mundo.<\/p>\n
