text_orientation_phone=&#8221;&#8221; text_orientation_last_edited=&#8221;on|tablet&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Initiating an expansion to the Gran Chaco via collaboration with ViSeC, an Argentina-based multi-stakeholder coalition<\/h3>\n<p>The coalition for the <strong>Sectoral Vision for the Gran Chaco<\/strong> (<strong>ViSeC<\/strong> in Spanish) is a pre-competitive discussion space coordinated by The Nature Conservancy, the Tropical Forest Alliance, Peterson Control Union, and CIARA\/CEC. It aims to bring together the main companies involved in the origination, processing, and marketing of agricultural commodities sourced in the <strong>Argentinean Gran Chaco<\/strong>, to <strong>address the environmental impacts of soybean production<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The SCF will support this emerging regional initiative to ensure both organizations <strong>share knowledge and learnings on common challenges<\/strong> to monitor, report, and verify information on land use change. The SCF will therefore integrate ViSeC\u2019s governance structure through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>participation in the working group&#8217;s technical discussions, and<\/li>\n<li>the establishment of an institutional relationship which ensures the recognition of mutual objectives and the benefits of knowledge sharing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;1_2,1_2&#8243; use_custom_gutter=&#8221;on&#8221; gutter_width=&#8221;1&#8243; make_equal=&#8221;on&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_css_main_element=&#8221;display:flex;||align-items:center;&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; min_height=&#8221;326px&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;20px|55px||||&#8221; custom_padding_tablet=&#8221;0px|0px|56px||false|false&#8221; custom_padding_phone=&#8221;&#8221; custom_padding_last_edited=&#8221;on|tablet&#8221; text_orientation_tablet=&#8221;center&#8221; text_orientation_phone=&#8221;&#8221; text_orientation_last_edited=&#8221;on|tablet&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Engaging with the soy value chain to develop shared DCF reporting methodology and scale landscape approaches<\/h3>\n<p>The SCF is working closely with downstream companies through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconsumergoodsforum.com\/environmental-sustainability\/forest-positive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Consumer Goods Forum\u2019s Forest Positive Coalition<\/a> <span style=\"color: #00b140;\">of Action<\/span> (CGF FPCoA), as well as with other stakeholders, aiming to establish shared deforestation and conversion risk definitions, including factors, maps, and thresholds for Cerrado soy sourcing.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, we are seeking synergies with cross-value chain platforms \u2013 such as the CGF FPCoA and the <a href=\"https:\/\/imagine.one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMAGINE Food Collective<\/a> \u2013 to advocate for solutions that scale farmer incentives and unlock the value of nature in the food sector.<\/p>\n<h3>Engaging with financial stakeholders<\/h3>\n<p>The finance sector is critical in driving change for deforestation- and conversion-free soy supply chains and must play a role in redirecting financial flows away from high-risk development models. On supply chain transparency, we are advancing in defining a common Deforestation and Conversion Free (DCF) reporting framework, looking into DCF negligible risk, DCF certifications, and farm-level DCF remote assessments. On landscape engagement, we are developing a common workplan that includes the definition of landscape monitoring indicators and joint investment in key soy landscapes in Cerrado biome. These common definitions will be part of the updated CGF Soy Sourcing Guidelines, to be published later this year.
